The Buddhists of Ladakh regard His Holiness the Dalai Lama as their supreme leader and as a living incarnation of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion.
Set amidst towering mountains with calm and pristine lakes, Ladakh is beautifully described as "a piece of broken moon land". Locked in by the Karakoram range of mountains in the north and the Himalayas in the south, Ladakh isstunningly stark and awe-inspiring.
Buddhism is the dominant religion of Ladakh and the monasteries play an important social role. Each monastery is distinct from the other and attractive in its unique way. We will explore the area, visit monasteries and interact with local people to see their ecologically and spiritually informed way of living.
We welcome you to join us on a pilgrimage to this shangri-la, to absorb this magical land - to explore and be inspired by the grandeur of nature - and to awaken to a silence within.
